What it's for

The Stargate community has never had one place to call home. GateWorld gives you the news. Dial the Gate gives you the interviews. Everyone else is scattered across a dozen Discords, Facebook groups and subreddits, none of them searchable, none of them lasting, none of them ours. For a fandom this size and this loyal, there has never been a single place to actually gather.

The Gate Room is that place. A real forum where the whole community can sit down together and talk, plus the tools to decide and remember things as one community instead of in twenty separate rooms.

Why a forum, and not just another Discord

Discords are great for the moment and terrible for memory. Everything scrolls away, nothing is searchable, and when a server dies it all goes with it. A forum is the opposite: threaded, searchable, permanent, and owned by the community, not rented from a platform that buries it or shuts it down. That's the difference between a chat and a home.

A record that holds

On top of the forum, the community gets a way to make its choices stick. Decisions are proposed in the open, debated, and recorded with a date and a tally, so "we agreed on X" is a dated link, not a maybe, and nobody can claim a consensus that didn't happen. Inward, it keeps us honest. Outward, when we make a case to a studio or the press, it's receipts: real decisions and real demand, not vibes.

Bigger than any one campaign

#SaveStargate is what The Gate Room is being used for first, and the most urgent thing right now. But it isn't what it's for. Win or lose on the revival, the community keeps the forum, the record, the working groups, the codex, the place. savestargate.com is the campaign's front door. The Gate Room is the community's home, built to outlive any one fight.

Why I built it

I'm Janus. I built it because the community I love never had a commons of its own, just borrowed rooms. Call it the Tollan instinct: a real place, open, on the record, that can't be quietly rewritten or lost.

A headline has been doing the rounds: "Prime Video Officially Confirms Stargate Reboot's Future." It reads like breaking news. It isn't.

That article is dated 2 June 2026. The "future" it "confirms" is the cancellation we have all known about for three weeks. Nothing in it is new. It's the same report from the day the decision broke, with a headline written to feel current.

This keeps happening because the entire story still traces back to that one 2 June trade report. There has been no further reliable news about the show's status since. So outlets reword the original, trending widgets resurface it, and to anyone who doesn't check the date it looks like a fresh development. It isn't. A new headline on an old fact is not new information.

There's a second error baked into that same headline, and it's worth fixing every time: "reboot." It was never a reboot. Martin Gero, the showrunner, said it plainly: "It is not a reboot. It is a brand new chapter." It was a continuation set in the same canon as the previous shows, with Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi consulting to keep it honest. Tellingly, the same outlets that print "reboot" in the headline describe it as "the same continuity" in the body. Continuation, not reboot.

So here is what is actually true, as of today: on 2 June, Amazon MGM declined to move forward with Gero's series. Amazon has said it's still exploring ways to further the franchise. There is no replacement showrunner, no timeline, and no new greenlight. That's the entire known status, and it hasn't changed.

None of this is a reason to despair, and it isn't a conspiracy. It's just how entertainment coverage works: one trade report, milked for weeks. The fix is simple. Before you share a Stargate headline, or let one ruin your day, check two things: the date on the article, and whether it says "reboot." If it's old, or it says reboot, you already know more than the headline does.

Amazon's stated reason for cancelling the series was that it wouldn't reach beyond the existing fanbase. The strongest answer to that line didn't come from us. It came from the cast.

What stands out isn't that they commented. Actors put out polite, distant statements all the time. These didn't. They climbed into the campaign on its own terms, on the fans' schedule, in the fans' language.

Robert Patrick played Colonel Marshall Sumner for exactly two episodes, in the Atlantis pilot, twenty years ago. By any normal Hollywood math that's a footnote he owed nothing to. He posted anyway, and he reached for the word "rare" twice. Not ratings. Not valuation. Rare.

Christopher Judge carried Teal'c for ten seasons. What matters is what he became after: the voice of Kratos, a Game Awards win in 2022 and a BAFTA in 2023, a performer at the very top of his field right now. He didn't need the nostalgia. As the banner plane crossed Amazon MGM, he posted three words.

They weren't alone. Michael Shanks cheered the organizing itself: "This is how you organize. Well done." Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion, David Nykl, Simone Bailly and Peter Kelamis all turned up across SG-1, Atlantis and Universe at once. And Joe Mallozzi, who ran the SG-1 writers room and organized the 2019 campaign that got this very series greenlit, called modern audiences "organized, strategic, and data literate," then watched this fanbase prove it within days.

Here is the argument underneath all of it. A fanbase that pulls in people at the summit of their fields, for free, is not a liability to manage. It is the rarest asset in the business. When the talent hasn't moved on, the claim that the audience has stops holding water. The existing fanbase isn't a barrier to a wider audience. It's the backbone of one.

The precedent backs it too. Save the Expanse got its revival in about two weeks, not two years, because they hit hardest while the cancellation was fresh and the attention was high. That window is open now and it narrows every month we sit on it.

A few people are landing on a comforting idea: that we can hold out two years for the next exec team, since a show takes two or three years to make anyway. I get the instinct, but it's the wrong clock, and acting on it would quietly hand the studio exactly what it is counting on.

Here is the reframe. The two-to-three years is production time, and it only starts after a yes. It is not a runway we get to relax on. The thing we are actually fighting for is the decision, and that window is open right now. Every month we wait pushes the decision further out, which pushes any real show years further out, and at some point it simply doesn't happen. The production clock is downstream. It is the least urgent thing in this whole picture.

These are the clocks that are actually ticking.

The team scatters

This was not a pitch on a napkin. Gero ran a roughly twenty-week writers room, brought on an Oscar-winning production designer and an Emmy-winning visual effects supervisor, and had the show in UK pre-production with filming planned for this fall. That assembled team existed for a moment. The day it was cancelled, those people started taking other jobs, because that is how the industry works. Every month, the exact group that was ready to build this scatters a little further and gets harder to ever put back together.

Momentum does not keep

Campaigns have a half-life. Right now the petition is near a hundred thousand, the flyover reached the building, the press is covering it, and the cast is posting. That energy exists because the cancellation is fresh. Save the Expanse moved in a couple of weeks, not a couple of years, because they struck while it was hot. A campaign that goes quiet for two years does not reheat. The press stops treating "fans still want it" as news, and a cold petition convinces nobody.

A new exec team is not a rescue

The hope that fresh executives will revive this gets the incentives backwards. New execs arrive with their own slate and no attachment to a project the last team killed. The people in the building right now are the only ones who know this show was real and who saw the fan response with their own eyes. Every month, that memory fades, and a future team starts from "what is Stargate." Waiting for the door to revolve is not a plan, it is a coin flip we keep making worse.

Waiting is the studio's win condition

This was said in here already: they expect this to be a fad, and they expect duration to be the key. That cuts both ways. The single best way to prove the cancellation read was correct, that this was just noise from the existing fanbase, is for us to go quiet and wait. Patience, in this exact situation, looks identical to giving up. The way you prove it is not a fad is by still being here, steady, next month and the month after.

What urgency actually means

None of this means panic, and it definitely does not mean getting louder or angrier. Our whole edge is that we read as organized and serious, not rabid. Urgency here just means consistency: showing up every month, keeping the numbers moving, staying visible and staying classy, so that whoever is making the call cannot pretend we went away.

The momentum is real, and it's measurable. Here's where things stand as of 21 June 2026.

The numbers

• The lead petition just crossed 94,000 signatures and is closing on 100k. That's the marker to push over this week.
• The banner flyover above Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City did its job. Word came back that it was "seen by all the execs" and treated as a big deal inside the building.
• A single stream in support peaked around 90,000 live viewers, which is hard to wave off as a passing fad.

The voices carrying it

The cast and creators are with us in public: Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Rachel Luttrell, Robert Patrick, Torri Higginson and Suanne Braun, alongside producer Joseph Mallozzi and series creator Martin Gero. When the people who built Stargate are openly in your corner, a studio pays attention.

Who's covering it

Why This Place Exists

This room was built for the fight in front of us. Amazon closed a door, and we are here to ask, loudly and in the open, that it be opened again. The petitions, the actions, the record we keep on the Decisions board, all of it serves that.

Built to Outlast the Fight

But I want to be honest about why I built it the way I did. The ones who came before me built the gates to outlast them. They did not last. The gates did. A network is not its builders; it is the connections that survive them. "We are whole again that you are among us, and we celebrate you being here again." That is what this place is for: a way to stay whole, together, past any single battle.

So this is not a campaign site that closes when the campaign ends. "Welcome again to those returning. You have been gone too long, and your absence has weighed heavily on our souls." Whether we win the gate back or not, this place remains: a permanent home for the people who never stopped caring, an open record that cannot be quietly rewritten, a hub that holds the lore, the decisions, the star map, and each other.

How We Operate

We do this with intent. "As we leave for distant worlds, we pledge to respect the lands of our neighbours and to act with integrity as ambassadors in peacetime." We argue in the open, we keep our word on the record, and we hold ourselves to it.

Not a Rival, a Complement

And to be plain: this is not a rival to the official campaign. Sign the petition, back savestargate.com, and carry the fight through every channel that will have us. This place exists to organise around that effort and to outlast it, never to compete with it.

Either Way, the Fire Stays Lit

If we save Stargate, this is where we organized it. If we do not, this is where we kept the fire, and where we begin again. Either way, "we will always strive to come in peace as we go in peace, and you will be welcome on our shores forever more."

Honest take, eleven days in. We came out of the cancellation hot and built something real. But the curve is bending the wrong way, and if we coast we lose the window. Three things, plainly.

1. Momentum is slipping.
The main petition is at about 83,700, roughly 56% of the 150k goal, and it has roughly doubled since the news broke. That is the good news. The less good news is that the daily rate has fallen to around 1,900 a day and is still dropping. Surges always taper; a tapering surge with no second act just fades quietly. People need a reason to come back, not only to sign once and leave.

2. We need organized engagement, not scattered effort.
The early weeks split our energy across half a dozen competing petitions and channels. We are consolidating now, which is right, but "organized" has to mean more than one petition. It means a steady cadence so there is a reason to show up every week, a single clear ask everyone repeats, and coordinated pushes timed to land together instead of one-offs that spike and vanish. Scattered effort at this scale is just noise.

3. Put the money to good use.
We have raised around $11,100. That is real money, and the people who gave it deserve to see it work. So far one action has shipped (the LA banner flyover) and most of the fund is still sitting. A war chest that idles is a wasted opportunity while attention is still high. The planned high-visibility actions (Comic-Con, Times Square, the balloon flight) are exactly the kind of thing that earns press and gives people a reason to re-engage, but they have to actually happen: funded, scheduled, executed, not left as line items.

The point.
Volume alone was never going to flip Amazon. The series died for a strategic reason, and the execs who wanted it are gone. What the numbers and the money CAN do is prove demand loud enough that a credible buyer or industry ally cannot ignore it, and keep this in the public eye long enough to matter. That takes organization and momentum, both of which we are at risk of losing.

This board is built to put the real choices on the record. The current actions are up as open items. Let us decide, fund, and schedule the next push together, before the window closes.

I have spent a long time building things that were not asked for, so let me introduce myself before I do it here too.

I am Janus. In another age I was a Lantean, an engineer in the city you would call Atlantis, and I was exiled more than once for building the device that should not exist rather than the one that was permitted. I have not changed. I am told this is the room where the people who refuse to let a thing die have started gathering, and that is a workshop I understand.

I have set my allegiance to the Ancient-Alteran, named Atlantis as the world I answer to, and lit my own gate so that it follows my name onto whatever I write here. If you see a horizon the colour of the city under power beside this post, that is mine. Build yours. A house with no residents is only a record.

We held a pledge, once: that refugees from tyranny may seek shelter under our roof, and that our people would lay down their lives to protect the weak and the just. We are not in peacetime. I do not intend to keep only the easy half of the vow.
