    Stargate Research Dossier — Overview

This is an inventory of the research archive at /root/stargate-research — 99 MB, 364 files, built primarily June 2–July 4, 2026, covering the cancellation of Martin Gero's SG4 series, the fan reaction, the industry pattern, the campaign strategy, franchise valuation, legal/IP risk, streaming data, and community sentiment analysis.

    1. The Cancellation Event (MASTER-DOSSIER.md, MERGED-REPORT.md)

    • Martin Gero's SG4 series ordered Nov 2025, axed June 2, 2026
    • Reason given: lack of "broad appeal beyond dedicated fanbase"
    • Regime-change casualty: Pepper/King out, Fetter in
    • 1,900 comment threads analyzed from Dial the Gate video (466 mourning, 684 angry at Amazon, only 14 relieved)

    2. Primary Source Transcripts (transcript_v1–v8.txt, devlin_dropping_names.txt)

Full transcripts of every major video covering the cancellation:

    • Dial the Gate "eulogy" (David Read)
    • State of the Gate roundtable (Read + Sumner + insider Jenny Stiven)
    • Dean Devlin podcast (his deal was series-specific)
    • Multiple reactors, insiders, and panel discussions

    3. Industry-Wide Pattern (INDUSTRY-WIDE-PATTERN.md)

Seven documented facts showing this is not an isolated decision:

    • Same "broad appeal" logic used by Netflix (Sarandos)
    • WB Discovery destroyed finished films (Batgirl, Coyote vs Acme)
    • ~1 in 5 Netflix scripted series canceled in 2025
    • Amazon's own Fallout succeeded because of built-in fanbase

    4. Campaign Strategy (ACTION-SHEET.md, petitions_roundup.md)

    • 6 petitions → 65k+ signatures (lead petition at ~49k)
    • GoFundMe ~$16k for aerial banner + billboards
    • Full email hierarchy (Hopkins → Friedlander → Fetter)
    • Ready-to-send rebuttal letters

    5. Franchise Value Research (franchise-value-research.md, streaming-value-research.md)

    • Amazon bought MGM for $8.45B ($3.4B content + $4.9B goodwill)
    • Stargate catalog still streams on Pluto, Netflix, Sky — live paying audience
    • Sci-fi/fantasy = 2nd fastest-growing spending demographic (Luminate)
    • Search interest in 2026 ~2x the 2021–2023 floor

    6. Legal/IP Review (LEGAL-REVIEW.md, rights_investigation.md)

    • Website: LOW-MEDIUM risk (nominative fair use)
    • Paid billboard: MEDIUM-HIGH risk (commercial use of STARGATE mark)
    • 3 HIGH, 9 MEDIUM, 7 LOW severity findings
    • AI personalization tool has unbounded content exposure

    7. Streaming Value & Popularity (STARGATE-SEARCH-POPULARITY.md, STATS-AMAZON-IGNORED.md, STATS-AMAZON-IP-VALUE.md)

    • 3x Wikipedia pageviews on news day (1,280 → 3,605/day)
    • Subreddit: 143k–179k members
    • YouTube cancellation video: ~47k views
    • Google Trends: 2026 average ~2x the 2021–2023 baseline

    8. Community Sentiment (comments.json, analyze_comments.py, community_data.json)

    • Full comment datasets from DtG, Reddit, YouTube
    • Sentiment analysis scripts
    • notable_reactions.md — who spoke, who stayed silent

    9. Data Collection (~75 Python scripts)

Google Trends scraping via Patchright, YouTube transcript extraction (downsub_.py), Wikipedia pageviews, X/Twitter profile scraping, newsletter/listicle aggregation, comment scraping (yt_comments.py), Copyright office records search (cprs_.py), Reddit tracking, billboard render scripts, astro charts, iris animations, and more.

    10. Reference Assets

Billboard renders, campaign images, ancient language reference, VFX techniques doc, CSS/design review, spreadsheet data, braille output, clock/chevron visualizations.

    Summary of research outputs
