Robert Patrick (Col. Sumner) just backed #SaveStargate
-
CBR picked this up, and it is a good one. Robert Patrick, who played Colonel Marshall Sumner in the Atlantis pilot, has publicly thrown his weight behind the campaign.
What he said
On X: "Hello Stargate universe! I truly enjoyed my time as part of the Stargate Atlantis family. 'Colonel Marshall Sumner.' Many of the cast are still in my life to this day. That's rare. This community is rare. #SaveStargate LFG!!!!!"
Why it matters
A cast voice carries weight that fan posts alone do not. Patrick lending his name puts the campaign in front of a wider audience and tells Amazon that the people who made the show want it back too.
The backdrop
Amazon greenlit the Martin Gero reboot as a Prime Video series in late 2025, then scrapped it (per Variety) over worries it would only draw existing fans. The project had Gero showrunning, with Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich as executive producers and Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi consulting. That is a lot of franchise pedigree to walk away from.
