The one episode you'd use to hook a newcomer
-
I keep coming back to "Children of the Gods" for this. It does the unglamorous work of explaining the gate, the threat, and why a ragtag team would walk through a puddle to another planet, all without slowing down. By the time it ends, a newcomer actually understands the premise and wants the next one.
That said, I know plenty of people who swear by dropping someone into a strong standalone instead, the theory being that the mythology can wait and the show just needs to prove it's fun first. I'm not fully sold, but I get the logic.
So what's your pick, and are you a "start at the pilot" person or a "throw them a great standalone first" person?
